The School Premise: Keeping the lost art of goldsmithing alive

The most outstanding and inspiring work today is not made by machines or technology or designed by computers or software programs. It is a person using a simple tool in a trained hand that produces the most beautiful and long-lasting jewelry. It is Daniel's desire to nurture the passion of today's aspiring goldsmiths and jewelers by connecting them to the applied techniques of yesterday so that the beauty and tradition of handmade jewelry does not become a lost art.

LOST ART GOLDSMITHING SCHOOL APPRENTCESHIP PROGRAM

Everyone has to start somewhere. If you are an aspiring goldsmith or jeweler there is no better place to learn your craft than at the bench in a real workshop where you can hone your skills and qualifications under the direct supervision of a 'Master'.

What does the Apprenticeship entail?

You will receive intense studio-based technical and educational training under the direct supervision of master goldsmith Daniel Sommerfeld on location in his private Waterton Lost Art workshop for up to six years depending on the level of specialization you choose. In accordance with your current skill set, you may be required to learn core skills before progressing on to more complex techniques.
